Good spain chocolate tours fill up weeks ahead and the great ones go first. Below: the 12 to book early, what each includes and how they differ.

At Torrons Vicens on La Rambla, a live guide such as Alexandra, Chelsea, or Martina leads a 45-minute tour of nougat and chocolate making. You’ll see digital presentations, learn about Turrón de Agramunt, taste several products, and finish with hot chocolate or horchata.

Our tour guide Chelsea was very nice and explained everything well. She seemed to have a natural passion for the art and products which came through in her presentation. At Chocolate Amatller’s El Born shop, you’ll watch a short audiovisual history, taste several chocolates, grind cacao by hand, and prepare a Barcelona-style hot chocolate. Guides such as Gina, Mar, and Georgina lead the small, friendly sessions in English, Spanish, or Catalan.

At Kina Chocolates in Barcelona, guides including Oscar and Renée lead a two-hour, small-group workshop for up to eight people. You roast, peel, grind, and taste cocoa, prepare cocoa drinks, learn chocolate’s long story, and make a bar to take home.
“This was such a great experience. I have two boys (16 & 14) that hate everything. Both had such a good time here. It was such a perfect balance of educational and hands on. The time flew past. The only real negative is that now we are all going to be huge chocolate snobs. Oscar’s passion for chocolate is contagious. Such a perfect example artisanal craftsmanship. So glad we did this. Meet Carmen at Puerta del Sol for an evening walk through Austrias, Plaza Mayor, Medieval Madrid, and Plaza de la Villa. Spend one hour inside Casa Amatller, Puig i Cadafalch’s preserved modernist house on Passeig de Gràcia. A specialist guide leads you from the lobby to the Amatller family’s noble floor, explaining the architecture, original furnishings, and chocolate-making family behind the home. Par contre, grosse erreur de ma part, NE PAS acheter le chocolat au magasin du musée. Allez au magasin principal qui est environ 500m plus loin. Beaucoup moins de choix à celui du musée mais surtout vous paierez en moyenne 35% plus cher. Du vol.”
